Arriving in Arhus, Denmark
Saturday, July 3: Arhus, Denmark.
We didn't have much planned for Århus. It looked to be another dark, rainy day. We thought we might take a stroll into town, but once off the ship we had a better idea: a horse-drawn city tour would be just the ticket. That was certainly adventurous. We even had our pictures taken by the local newspaper photographer for use in some kind of tourist publication!
After our tour, we were dropped at the far side of town and walked back through the center of town on the main pedestrian street. We followed a path along a canal running through town, and we spent some time at an Internet Cafe trying to check our email. Even though there was an Internet Cafe on the Westerdam, AOL had decided to block access to Eric's account about half way through our cruise, so it was becoming increasing difficult to communicate with the outside world. It was even more interesting trying to figure out how to use a Danish keyboard! We don't have letters like this at home: Å!
Saturday night was finally Disco night on the Westerdam! I'd been waiting all week for the chance to boogie-down in the Disco. Unfortunately, the Disco was dead on a ship where the average passenger age was about 75. (I'm not saying that everybody on the ship was old, but when they asked for volunteers a couple of nights earlier to play "The Newlywed Game," two of the couples had been married more than 40 years!) In any event, Mom and I managed to get in a few dance moves on the Disco floor before we decided to call it a night.
